Once a long time ago, there was a pegasus stallion
Blue of coat and silver of mane
Long and thin of limb
Light as a feather
The sky personified
And there was an earth mare
The rich soil reflected in her coat
Her green mane a reflection of that which grew from it
Heavy and stout from the day she was born
The earth given form
For one the ground below him was but a quilt
Patches of green and brown beneath the clouds
For the other above her was the sky
Scattered clouds painted across an endless sea of blue
Unexplored lands they could but dream about
One day the two came to meet
She had climbed a tree
He had nested in that very same tree
One wanting to visit the sky
The other curious of the ground below
Two ponies, nothing alike
Two ponies, sharing their curiosities
Two tribes coming together
A friendship born
A friendship condemned
His father, of his heritage he was proud
A mud pony said he will merely drag you down with her
Wings are the gift you were born with
You are like the wind, meant for the sky
Never to be grounded
Her father, proud of his roots
We are a grounded tribe he said
We are meant to touch Equestria
To caress her, to love her
Not to look down upon her
The parents two made it clear
This romance was not to be
To nip it in the bud, to scatter it to the winds
My child will not be stolen from the sky
My child will not have her roots ripped from the soil
But the children cared not for the words their elders wrought
Each found a piece of themselves in the other
They had not known that a piece of themselves was missing
He gave her wings, she grounded him
Completed they were by each other
One day he came to her
By hoof as her parents had blocked the sky
She waited by her second floor window
Fly he told her as he created a nest
I will protect you this night and forever
Come with me and be free
That night two lovers made their way
Far they went to find their home
They planted the seed the first Hearthwarming gave us
A seed of three tribes, a seed of Harmony
The seed from which Equestria grows
I was proofreading a story on FiM Fiction (I do that a lot ifn I haven't mentioned it before), and came up with this. This was created for Seargent Spring to recite in the latest and last chapter of The Train Ride by Snuffy in a scene where the subject of racism comes up. Sadly for me, he declined to use it, but, I was so proud of it, I had to share it with y'all. I suppose part of the reason I'm so proud, is that while this was percolating in my head for about eighteen hours, the actual writing was about eighteen minutes. Yes, seriously, I wrote this in that little piece of time. Any how, enjoy.
